Mary A. DiTullio, 98, formerly of Center Avenue, Butler, passed away Saturday at Heritage Valley Hospital in Beaver.

Born in Armstrong County on Dec. 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Sarah Bowser Toy.

A homemaker, she formerly worked in the office of Congressman Ward McCullough in Armstrong County for five years.

She was the first woman hired at Pullman Standard during World War II. She was a crane operator at the plant.

She formerly owned a Novelty Toy Store on West Wayne Street in Butler, and she and her husband operated Jake's Bar on Center Avenue in Butler for more than 40 years.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by a son, Tony M. DiTullio and his wife, Mickey, of Darlington; a brother, Benson “Ted” Toy, of Alabama; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Jake O'Toole” DiTullio, who passed away Nov. 6, 1994; a son, Leo J. DiTullio, who passed away March 28, 2002; five brothers, and four sisters.

<B>DITULLIO —</B> Friends of Mary A. DiTullio, who died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>MARTIN FUNERAL HOME</B>, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.The bereavement group of St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a Scriptural Wake Service.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net.
