Marian M. Montgomery,
90, of North Broad Street, Pine Township, Mercer County, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Grove City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.She was born in Argentine on June 19, 1920, to Harry E. Montgomery and Hazel M. Whitlatch Montgomery.Marian retired from the Grove City School District where she was a third grade elementary school teacher. She worked for the district for 42 years. Marian started her teaching career in the Sutherland one-room school house and then moved to the Chestnut Ridge School House, then Central School and finished her career in teaching at Washington Elementary School.She was a member of the Grove City Nazarene Church. She was active with vacation Bible school, she served as church treasurer, and was on the church board.With her family, she attended the Wayside Community Church, Findley Township for the past 20 years.Marian was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1938, and then graduated from Slippery Rock State College, now Slippery Rock University.She was a Girl Scout leader for 35 years. Marian was a member of the PSER, where she served on the membership committee, and was a member of AARP.She is survived by two sisters, Fay Stevens and Jean Campbell, both of Grove City; three nieces; one nephew; and several great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rachel Montgomery; one brother, Harry Montgomery; two brothers-in-law; one nephew; and one great nephew.
<b>MONTGOMERY</B> — Visitation for Marian M. Montgomery, who died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, will be at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. G. Kenton Shaw, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park.Memorial tributes in Marian’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
