MARS — Donations are being accepted for the winter used book sale at Mars Library set for Feb. 23 to 26.

Hardbacks, paperbacks, children's books, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs in good condition are needed.

Magazines, textbooks, Reader's Digest condensed books, VHS tapes, records and romance paperbacks not accepted. Call 724-625-9048 for information.

MARS — Mars Kiwanis Club will sponsor the Out of this World chili cook-off from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 26 at Mars Middle School, 1775 Three Degree Road.Participants will compete in three categories: local church cooking crews, nonprofit organizations and amateur individuals.Participants will set up at 7 a.m. to prepare their chili for tasting by 10 a.m. Each participant will provide samples to the judges by noon.Register by calling Dale Roos at 724-333-5230, Mary Jo Phillips at 724-898-9661, or Fritz Bielo at 412 445-3018.

The American Cancer Society Daffodil Days will be held from March 14 to 20.A bouquet of 10 daffodils is available for a $10 donation and a limited-edition Boyds bear with 10 daffodils is available for $25.A vase with 10 flowers or vase and a bunch are available for a donation of $15.
