David J. Warheit

David J. Warheit, 62, of Freeport passed away peacefully at 6:34 a.m. Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

David was born in Butler, Nov. 12, 1948, the son of the late Howard Warheit and Dorothy (Kardel) Warheit of Butler, who survives him.

He was the widower of Patricia (Seinera) Warheit, who passed in 2004.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. After his service to his country, he went to work as a maintenance boss at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenridge for 27 years.

Dave was the assistant chapter director of the Gold Wing Touring Association Chapter J. He was an avid motorcycle rider, having ridden more than 50,000 miles in 2010. He was a ham-radio operator, using the call sign KN3ZAN. He also enjoyed drag racing and boating.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two sons, Steven (Michelle) Warheit of Natrona Heights and Michael Warheit of Freeport; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Miriand, Austin and Catharine Patricia; and his brother, Kevin (Vivian) Warheit of Butler.

<B>WARHEIT</B> — Family and friends of David J. Warheit, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
