Bernard L. Lyons Sr., 76, of Middlesex Township died Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Prospect on March 12, 1934, he was the son of Frank B. and Ruth Bonnar Lyons.

Bernard was an electrician for Alvin Walker in Saxonburg for 19 years and then worked for Union Local 5 in Pittsburgh.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cranberry Township.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Lurtz Lyons, who he married on March 22, 1958; three daughters, Katherine L. Smith (Doug) of West Deer Township, Barbara A. Federkeil (George) of New Castle, and Brenda Sue Lyons of North Carolina; two sons, Bernard “Lee” Lyons, Jr. (LeeAnn) of Lindon, Utah, and Bryan E. Lyons of Valencia; three sisters, Lois Geary and Irene Andrews (Smokey), both in Florida, and Doris Albert of Forestville; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Sanderson.

<B>LYONS</B> — Friends of Bernard L. Lyons, who died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2771 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Township. Bishop Scott Wahlstrom will officiate.
