Ada Fern (Martin) Scott, 98, of Butler died at 12:10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Born July 13, 1912, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Andrew C. Martin and Nellie Pearl Evans Martin.

Mrs. Scott was a homemaker, and in her earlier years, she worked for the T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. in Butler.

She was the oldest member and a lifelong member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study, the JoAnn Griffith Women's Circle and the Willing Workers, where she had rolled thousands of bandages. She was a member of the G.F.W.C. Pennsylvania Woman's Club of Butler, a former church deacon and a former member of Chapter 45 of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Scott enjoyed knitting and other needlework, cooking, baking and sewing.

She was a January 1931 graduate of Butler High School and then attended The Butler Business College, where she received a secretarial degree.

Mrs. Scott is survived by one son, Robert Ernest Scott of Butler; two daughters, Ruth Ann Scott of Butler and Nancy Jane (Scott) Slezak and her husband, Norbert, of Butler; two grandchildren, Scott David Slezak and his wife, Holly, of Natrona Heights and Sarah Jane Slezak Wallace and her husband, Walter, of Yarmouth, Maine; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Ashley Slezak, Tyler Scott Slezak, Anna Jane Wallace and John Robert Wallace; sisters-in-law, Frances Scott and Frieda Scott of Houghton Lake, Mich.; nephews, Andrew C. Martin of Erie and James A. and Stephen D. Martin of Gibsonia; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Scott, who she married May 31, 1937, and who passed away Feb. 9, 1973; two brothers; and one niece.

<B>SCOTT </B>— Friends of Ada Fern (Martin) Scott, who died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Clark Sawyer of the Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating.
