John W. Acree
John W. Acree, 83, formerly of St. Pete Beach, Fla., passed away on Thursday in West Hills Health and Rehab.
He was born in Freedom on Sept. 21, 1928, the son of the late Charles and Rachel Acree.
He retired as a guard for Babcock and Wilcox, and previously owned his own trucking company. He has spent the last 20 years in Florida where he was very involved with his church, Gulfport First United Methodist Church, Gulfport, Fla. He loved to go RV-ing with his family and belonged to Avion and Airstream Clubs. He was also active with the Scouts and Canoe Trails.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice H. Acree, in 1982.
He is survived by his four loving children, Tim and Lonnie Acree of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Donna Taylor of Pulaski, Judy and Robert Cantner of North Sewickley and Scott and Karen Acree of Valencia; five grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel Acree, Qiana Foote, and Kelly and Kyra Acree; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lincoln Foote; and one sister, Sarah Trenary of Leetsdale. He also is survived by his church families at both the Unionville United Methodist Church in Rochester and the Gulfport First United Methodist Church.

Acree, who died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the <B>Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester, </B>502 Adams St., where a funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Douglas B. Myers Jr. officiating.
