Adolph C. Hilderbrand, 90, of Donegal Township, Chicora, died Saturday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 30, 1919, in Donegal Township, where he lived his entire life, he was a son of the late Charles and Agnes (Landgraf) Hilderbrand.

He was retired from the coal industry, having worked as a dozer operator for the West Freedom Mining Corp. for a number of years. Before that, he was a road supervisor for Donegal Township and had always had oil wells and produced oil gas and his own gasoline from his wells.

Adolph was a member of the St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville and the VFW in Chicora, and he was a formerly a member of the R.C. Men's Club.

He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and boating at their camp in East Brady and enjoyed raising cattle at his home.

A veteran of World War II, he had served with the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl R. (Geibel) Hilderbrand, who he married Oct. 29, 1947, at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler; his five children, Sandra Cetti and her husband, Joseph, of Butler, Karen Hilderbrand of Butler, Nadine Harding and her husband, John, of West Sunbury, Larry A. Hilderbrand and his wife, Janice, of Fenelton, and Lori Welter and her husband, Tim, of Butler; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother, Charles Hilderbrand and his wife, Agnes, of Chicora.He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Edward Hilderbrand; and five sisters, Viola Hammett, Loretta Hesky, Lavada Trimbur, Leona Flick and Isabelle Holben.

<B>Hilderbrand </B>— Friends of Adolph C. Hilderbrand, who died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m., at the St. John Roman Catholic Church, Coylesville. Interment will follow in the St. John Parish Cemetery.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
