James V. 'Jim' Elliott

James V. “Jim” Elliott, 83, formerly of Butler, passed away into the arms of his lord and savior Nov. 11 in Wytheville, Va.

Jim was born June 25, 1927, in Elk Creek, Va.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, where he served in Germany. He was a 63-year member of the IBEW in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Jim was a devoted father who cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid Steelers fan and loved hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Lou E. Elliott of Wytheville; his children, Shirley (Joe) Cavender and Roger M. Elliott, both of Wytheville, and Ed and Donna Elliott of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Johnnie (Shelby) Delp of Elk Creek, Va.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, James A. Elliott, preceded him in death, May 8, 2009.

Jim and Lou are members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wytheville.

<B>ELLIOTT</B> — Burial for James V. “Jim” Elliott, who died Thursday, Nov. 11, was held at the Osborne Family Cemetery in Independence, Va., with members of the VFW Post 7726 conducting military rites. Arrangements were made by the <B>GRUBBS FUNERAL HOME</B> in Wytheville.A memorial donation may be made in Jim’s memory to the Agape Food Pantry c/o Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Wytheville, VA 24382.
