Edward G. Howell, 87, of Sarver passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 19, 1923, to David and Viola Marie Schaeffer Howell in Homestead.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. He was in the 204th Infantry

He had been the principal at Fawn Elementary and later an administrator in the Highlands School District.

He was a member of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Edward is survived by his wife, Helen Burr Howell, who he married June 1, 1948; two sons, David E. Howell and his wife, Gail, of Mars, and Thomas D. Howell and his wife, Sherry, of Mars; two daughters, Linda Cypher and her husband, Lewis, of Butler, and Viola Zimmerman and her husband, Charles, of Mars; and three grandchildren, Erin, Josie and Josh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David J. Howell, and one sister, Viola Marie Burr.

<B>HOWELL</B> — A private memorial service is being planned for Edward G. Howell, who died Sunday, Nov. 21., 2010. Arrangements are being handled by <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, Saxonburg.Memorials are suggested to the Saxonburg Area Library P.O. Box 454 Saxonburg, PA 16056.
