John Kraynik of Cranberry Township passed away suddenly Saturday morning.

He was born June 17, 1934, in Ambridge, to the late George and Anna Kraynik.

John graduated from Ambridge High School. He served in the Air National Guard for 12 years.

He also served Cranberry Township in its early years when he was appointed and served as chief of police from 1963 to 1972, and he was also elected to a six-year term as constable in January 1966. John worked as a lineman and installer for the Bell Telephone Co., and retired in 1993 after 39 years.

He is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of over 55 years, Nina (Meeder) Kraynik, and his brother, George (Esther) Kraynik. He will forever be remembered and honored by his children, Cynthia (Richard) Kobus and Bryan (Betty) Kraynik; grandchildren, Anthony (Amy) Kobus, Diana Lynn Kobus, Faith Rebecca Kraynik, and Matthew John Kraynik; great-grandchildren, Ava Rose Kobus and Alexa Rae Kobus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years but his life's joy was farming. He farmed the Meeder Farm for over 40 years and was very proud of the sweet corn and vegetables raised and sold at the homestead's roadside stand. After he retired from Bell Telephone he also raised Polled Hereford beef cattle and loved working with animals.

By far the most important part of his life was his love for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an elder at St. Peter's Reformed Church in Zelienople and his greatest desire was for everyone to receive salvation and realize Victory in the Lord. Make no mistake — it's shoutin' time in heaven today.

<B>KRAYNIK — </B>Friends of John Kraynik, who died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME,</B> 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Reformed Church, 314-320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Friends please meet at church. Interment will be at Mt.
