Marcinko

Florence G. Marcinko of Concordia at The Orchard, formerly of Portersville, died peacefully in her 85th year on Sunday.

Born on Sept. 26, 1925, in Braddock, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hvizdos Knass.

Florence's early years included her work at Prior's Restaurant in Portersville, Ladder Works in Zelienople and the Clark Candy Co. in Pittsburgh. She had loved being in a bowling league with her co-workers at Clark.

During their 58 year marriage, Florence and her husband first lived on their family farm in Harmony, relocated to Portersville where they lived for nearly 30 years and then enjoyed condo living in Butler.

She was a homemaker and a mother, and her family was most important in her life. Florence was an avid reader, and subsequently enjoyed many friendships and activities while living at The Orchard.

Her husband, Michael J. Marcinko, who she married Oct. 29, 1949, preceded her in death on June 15, 2007.

Surviving are her daughter, Delores Taskey, and her husband, Donald, of Butler; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Marie Ellen Knass of Zelienople, Robert Knass and the late Donna Knass, Joseph and Rose Ann Knass and Ronald and Janice Knass, all of New Castle; cousins, Joseph, Andrew and John Marcinko; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
