Edward J. Best
Edward Junior Best, 84, of Emlenton, formerly of Knox, passed away Saturday at VNA Hospice House in Shippenville.
Born July 16, 1926, in Elk City, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Eva Adelaine Emery Best. No siblings survive him.
Junior served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a salesman for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance and was a partner in the Knox Car Wash.
He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Knox, the Dehart-Rossman-Wenner American Legion Post, the Knox Lions, and the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge 550 in Knox.
Junior was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Olive Bauer, who he married on Aug. 21, 1948; and three children, Edward L. (Sandee) of Knox, Lori Ruth Russell (Tim) of Emlenton, and David M. (Mindy) of Bath, N.Y.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
<B>BEST</B> — Friends of Edward Junior Best, who died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>David C. McEntire Funeral Home</B>, 504 E. Penn St., Knox, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's with the Rev. Karen Parch, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Union Cemetery.Memorials may be made to St. Paul's church or the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice.
