Mrs. Sophia M. Barracchini, 79, of the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen.

Mrs. Barracchini was born Jan. 28, 1931, in France to the late Joseph Jurczak and Stella Lenarciak Jurczak.

She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Church, where she was part of the Christian Mothers. She also was a past member of the Ellwood City Football Boosters.

Sophia was a big Steelers fan and enjoyed showing her support for the Steelers. She especially enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast with her son at Bob Evans Restaurant.

Sophia was a nurse's aide at the Evergreen Nursing Center from 1976 to 1986. She also enjoyed being a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter and her spouse; Anna Marie and Ed Rice of Zelienople; three sons and their spouses, Anthony and Kathy Barracchini of Maryland, Angelo Jr. and Maria Barracchini of Maryland and Domenic and Amanda Barracchini of Beaver; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Sophia was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Barracchini Sr., who she married Feb. 26, 1949, and who passed away Jan. 9, 1990; and a son, Joseph Barracchini, who died in infancy.
