BC3, SRU women victorious
Casey Fleeger led a quartet of players who scored in double figures with 20 points as the Butler County Community College women's basketball team thumped Penn State-Greater Allegheny 85-34 on Saturday.
BC3's Katresa Savisky totaled 18 points and nine assists, Ashley Campbell had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Rachel Doutt 12 points and 14 boards.
The Pioneers (2-3) outscored the Lions in the second half 40-12.
Slippery Rock 67, Notre Dame College (OH) 64 — Danielle Smith recorded her first collegiate double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds as The Rock closed Saturday's game on a 9-0 run.Grace Palucis drained a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left to put SRU (1-6) up for good.The win was the first at SRU for head coach Tanya Longo.
Despite receiving double-double efforts from three of its players, Slippery Rock University fell at Seton Hill, 72-58 on Saturday.Devin Taylor had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Jabril Bailey and Maron Brown both tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds for The Rock (4-3).
Crystal Burnick finished in second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18 minutes, 2.92 seconds to highlight the first day of the Kent State University Golden Flashes Indoor track and Field Gala Friday.Five pole vaulters — Kelly Fischer, Julia Cain, Teresa Parker, Jocelyn Cochran and Angela Schroeder — all placed in the top 10 and reached the PSAC standard to lead the way.Kim Stitt and Kelly Bruder also finished in the top 10 in the pentathlon, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively while Jade Hambrick and Sandy Kakraba also met the conference qualifying standard in the weight throw.• In men's action, SRU's Chris Warning broke the school record in the weight throw with an effort of 17.5 meters.The previous standard was 17.42 meters, set by Adam Jones in 2008.Cameron Daugherty finished in second place in the pole vault at 4.9 meters.
