Suzanne Shewalter-Brown

Suzanne Shewalter-Brown was elected 2010-2011 president of the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler.Shewalter-Brown joined the club in 2002 and has served as recording secretary, corresponding secretary and second and first vice president.A 1991 graduate of Butler High School, she earned an associate’s in business administration from the Butler County Community College, a bachelor’s in business logistics from Penn State University and a master’s in elementary and special education from Chatham College.She is employed as an inclusion support teacher by the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV.She is the daughter of T. William and Mary Shewalter, wife of Travis Brown and mother of Jacob Shewalter.———

Paige Campbell, a senior at Deer Lakes High School, collected more than 600 holiday gifts to distribute to veterans at VA Butler Healthcare.Campbell placed boxes at Deer Lakes High School and Middle School, requesting donations of books, puzzles, DVDs and a variety of other items.A 13-year Girl Scout, she is working on her Gold Award.She now is coordinating Girl Scout volunteers to distribute the gifts and visit veterans at VA Butler Healthcare.———The 17th annual Chef Tasting party and auction raised $17,243 to benefit

Community Care Connections.More than 225 guests attended the Oct. 24 event at the Mansion in Butler.Proceeds support the programs and services of Community Care Connections, which are not otherwise funded by government sources. Community Care Connections provides supportive services to infants, children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in Butler County.———

The Butler A.M. Rotary Club held their second annual Best Christmas Ever Food Drive Dec. 4 to benefit the Salvation Army Food Cupboard. Members collected nonperishable food items and monetary donations at Diamond Park on Main Street in Butler.Santa greeted more than 150 children and their parents at the Salvation Army on West Cunningham Street. For a donation of nonperishable food items, children got their picture taken with Santa and had a chance to win prizes at various games set up throughout the gymnasium.The event was held to replenish the stock at the Food Cupboard for families who are experiencing financial difficulties.———The Zelienople-Harmony Chamber Business Association has announced the winners from the
