Maron Brown scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team to a 78-68 victory over Nyack College Saturday, the team's fourth consecutive triumph,

Brown and teammate Jabril Bailey each pulled down nine rebounds while Tommy Kelly scored a career-high 15 points off the bench while Jon Valeriano added 11 points.

SRU (4-2) shot 50 percent from the floor and 36.8 percent from 3-point range.

The Rock held a 50-36 lead with 17:15 to play, but Nyack scored the next 11 points to make it a three-point game with 13 minutes left.

Women's Basketball

Despite 19 points and five 3-pointers from Alex Beatty, SRU fell to Urbana (Oh.) 66-62.

The Rock (0-5) held a 10-point first-half lead, but Urbana would retake the lead by halftime.

Marlynda Harland added 11 points, Emilee Vietz nine and a game-high 16 rebounds.
