Molczan

Mary "Joyce" Molczan, 56, of Butler went into the hands of the Lord on Friday surrounded by her family, in the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, 26 years after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Born March 3, 1954, in New Castle, she was the only daughter of William and Mary Molczan of Butler.

Joyce graduated from Butler High School in 1972 and from Slippery Rock University (cum laude) in 1976, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She interned at St. Gilbert's School in Liverpool, England.

A member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Joyce treasured the joys of many friends and the love of her family. She was admired for her constant positive attitude and love of life. She never once asked "Why me, Lord?" She belonged to the Friends of the Library, where she read stories to the children. She made them laugh with her animated expressions.

Joyce will be remembered as a constant source of strength and inspiration.

Joyce is survived by her parents; her companion and caregiver, Joe Lalich of Butler; three brothers, James of Erie, Jeffrey and his wife, Terri, of Butler and William and his wife, Becky, of Pittsburgh; and eight nieces and nephews, Michael, Jessica, Jared, and Sara from Erie, Kayla, Sarah and Jenna from Butler and Katie from Pittsburgh.

<B>MOLCZAN</B> — Friends of Mary "Joyce" Molczan, who died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, will be received at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church.
