CRANBERRY TWP — Westinghouse Electric has been awarded a five-year contract for engineering services to nuclear power plants in Spain.
More than 130 Westinghouse employees are stationed at the Vandellós and Ascó nuclear plants in Tarragona, Spain.
Both nuclear plants have Westinghouse-supplied pressurized water reactors.
“Westinghouse has had a long-standing and positive relationship with ANAV since plant construction,” said Jorge Baños, director of Westinghouse Plant Engineering Services in Tarragona.
“This most recent engineering contract gives us the opportunity to continue to team with this important customer to help them achieve their operational objectives.
“Additionally, it enables us to serve as a dedicated interface for Westinghouse-implemented projects on site.”
WARRENDALE — MEDRAD, a business of Bayer HealthCare, is one of only five companies that have received the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award more than once.MEDRAD, which manufactures and uses computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and interventional cardiology, will receive a 2010 Baldrige Award for excellence in manufacturing, an honor that it first received in 2003.The Baldrige Award is the top honor a U.S. company can achieve for performance excellence and is traditionally presented by the President of the United States.More than 80 companies applied for the award in 2010, which is named for a former secretary of commerce.The award is to recognize role model companies for business achievements and successful performance strategies.MEDRAD President and CEO Sam Liang, in a news release, said, “I could not be more proud of our employees. They have continued to deliver for our customers in spite of a tough economy, and are committed to continuously improving what we do, and how we do it. This award belongs to them.”
