Joe Bober, 88, of Curtisville, West Deer Township, died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 23, 1922, in Curtisville, were he lived all his life, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Horenchuck) Bober.

During the Great Depression, Joe worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps building roads in Flagstaff, Ariz.

During World War II, Joe severed in the 9th Army Air Corps as a mechanic on P-47 fighters.

He worked for Consolidated Coal of Bairdford for 12 years and for US Steel, Ambridge, as a crane operator for 31 years, retiring in 1984.

Mr. Bober was a member of Russian Brotherhood Organization of the U.S. of America and the ACME Club, Harwick.

Joe was very proud of the house he and his family lived in because he built it himself.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dolores R. (Rock) Bober; his children, Shirley (Tom) Barnes of North Port, Fla., and Wayne (Lila) Bober of Industry; grandchildren, Jacob and Dawn Bober and Keri (Eric) Mengal; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Savanna, Pete and Gage; and a sister, Mary Pohan of Tarentum.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, John, Mike and Steve Bober.

<B>BOBER</B> — Visitation for Joe Bober, who died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m., with panikhida at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the <B>Adam Siemianowski Funeral Home</B>, Starr Road, Russellton, West Deer Township. Liitya will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home followed by services at 11 a.m. in St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral, Allison Park, with the Most Rev. Michael Senyo. Internment to follow at Lakewood Memorial, Indiana Township.
