Hazel M. Rivers
Hazel M. Deets Peoples Rivers, 90, of Butler passed away Sunday at Sugar Creek Rest.
She was born in Higgins Corners, Venango Township, Nov. 12, 1919, and was the daughter of the late David M. and Loretta Hoover Deets.
Hazel was a homemaker and a graduate of Karns City High School, Class of 1937. She also was a graduate of The Butler Business College.
She was formerly employed at Russell Mining, Evans-Vance and Grubbs and Mercury Mining and Construction.
Hazel was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, David R. Rivers and his wife, Sharon, of Butler and Eden L. Rivers of Butler; two daughters, Donna L. Magan of Butler and Beverly A. Linn of Butler; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh Peoples, who passed away in 1947; her second husband, Donald R. "Dutch" Rivers, who passed away in 1987; two brothers, John Deets and Eden Deets; and two sisters: Glenn Deets and Ethel Anderson.
<B>RIVERS</B> — Friends of Hazel M. Deets Peoples Rivers, who died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, will be received in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the church Thursday at 9:35 a.m. to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
