Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe warns residents that anyone asking for money over the phone to bail out an inmate is perpetrating a scam.
Money should not be sent to another agency or to an out-of-state location for county court warrants.
Payments of fines for county warrants can only be made at the county Clerk of Courts office for criminal cases or the Domestic Relations office for support cases.
No other locations are authorized to accept money on behalf of those arrested on warrants.
Anyone receiving such suspicious calls should report them to the respective law enforcement agency or the sheriff's office at 724-284-5245.
