Brewer

Ruth Dorothy Graham Brewer, 91, of Rocky Ford, Colo., formerly of Chicora, died Sept. 15 at the Pioneer Nursing Center, Rocky Ford, where she lived for three years.

Born Jan. 8, 1919, in Ridgely, W.Va., she was the daughter of Richard D. and Anna Schrader Graham.

She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Fowler, Colo. Ruth received Christ as her savior in the summer of 1969, was baptized by immersion later that year and became a member of First Baptist Church of Butler and later of Zion Lutheran Church of Chicora.

Ruth was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed her large garden, which fed her family throughout the year. She liked to sew and to visit her farming neighbors.

She was married to Harper E. Brewer from Dec. 20, 1935, until he died Dec. 6, 1995. Following his death, her health declined and she moved from Chicora, where she and her husband had lived for 54 years, to Rocky Ford, to be with her son and his family. Ruth also lived in Bruin for a short time.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Richard E. Brewer of Cleveland, and the Rev. Chester E. Brewer and his wife, Mary Lou (Jolene), of Rocky Ford. In Colorado, she is also survived by 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 26 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.

In Pennsylvania, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Graham of Lancaster, and four nieces and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Harper J. Brewer and his wife, Alberta "Bert"; her sisters, Alma Malispinia and Margaret Blose; and her brother, Richard E. Graham, Jr.

<B>Brewer </B>— Friends of Ruth Dorothy Graham Brewer, who died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets in Chicora. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the funeral home. Her son, the Rev. Chester E. Brewer, will officiate.
