Knoch sweeps Beaver

The Knoch girls volleyball team has been playing well lately.

The Knights proved it in the first round of the WPIAL Class AA playoffs Tuesday night when they swept Beaver 25-17, 25-11, 25-14 to advance.

Stephanie Gross had 20 assists and five kills, and Zelina Sanks and Julia Kleinfelder each added eight kills for the Knights (11-6).

Keating Miller had 17 service points for Knoch, which will play Hopewell at 6 p.m. Thursday at Montour.

In the other WPIAL Class AA first-round match, Mars dispatched Brownsville 3-0.

A-C Valley 3, Clarion-Limestone 0 — The Falcons closed the regular season with a 25-12, 25-8, 25-15 victory.Tricia Kerlin had 17 points, 11 aces and nine kills to lead the way.Freshman Mackayli Terwilliger added nine points and two aces for A-C Valley (11-2).

Danielle Wissinger scored two goals as Slippery Rock routed Grove City 5-0.Molly Weitzel, Casey Dudek and Morgan Siebka also scored goals for the Rockets (8-0-1), who will open the District 10 playoffs next Wednesday against an opponent and at a site and time to be determined.

<B>Seneca Valley 4, State College 2 — </B>The Raiders doubled up on the Lions Tuesday. No details were available.
