Janice K. Chaff
Janice K. Chaff, 87, of Butler and Eau Claire, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, Cabot, following an illness.
Born May 2, 1923, in Eau Claire, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Marjorie Hunter Kohlmeyer.
Janice was a graduate of the former Eau Claire High School and The Butler Business College.
She retired in 1973 following a 30-year career with the U.S. Government, Department of Army, working primarily as a budget analyst. Most of her career was spent at Fort Ritchie, Md., though she worked first at the former Deshon Veterans Affairs Center in Butler.
She was Presbyterian, and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 60, in Parker.
She was married to retired Sgt. 1st Class William M. Chaff Sr., who passed away June 5, 1995.
Surviving are a son, William M. Chaff Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; a sister, Dosca Wynn of Eau Claire; a grandson, Brian Chaff of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a niece, Sue LeGrand of Warsaw, Ky.; and a nephew, Jay Black of Eau Claire.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a niece, April Black Kingsley.
<B>CHAFF</B> — Visitation for Janice K. Chaff, who died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire. A celebration of life memorial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Clark Sawyer, a family friend, officiating.
