James Leroy "Jim" Allen, 81, of Butler died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at his home.

Born Jan. 11, 1929, in Center Township, he was the son of the late John L. Allen and Florence Moore Allen.

Mr. Allen was a bricklayer for Butler Armco, where he retired in 1989 after 31 years.

He enjoyed boating.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Allen, who he married Oct. 9, 1954; one daughter, Mary Lou and her husband, Denny Thompson of Karns City; two sons, Dennis Allen of Butler and Robert Allen of Slippery Rock; two granddaughters, Jennifer and her husband, Jason, Long of Bean Station, Tenn., and Lauren Davis of Karns City; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Long.
