CHERRY TWP — Kyle Armagost earned himself a steak dinner.

In the process, he gave Redbank Valley a serious case of indigestion.

The Moniteau junior quarterback threw three touchdown passes and rushed for three scores as the Warriors won a 46-32 shootout over the Bulldogs Friday night.

Moniteau coach Jeff Campbell told Armagost before the game that if he provided pump and juicy passing statistics, he would provide a plump and juicy steak.

"I guess I owe him one now," Campbell said.

The coach might want to provide a steak or two for receiver Ethan Pry and running back Dustin Geagan.

Pry had seven catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter alone as the two teams combined for six touchdowns in the first 12 minutes.

Moniteau (2-2), though, led 21-19 after the first.

The Warriors' game plan was simple: spread the field with five wide receivers and throw the ball at will.

"They're running this 3-5, which we ran a couple of years ago," Campbell said of Redbank's early defense. "It's a great defense if you have all those guys in the box and you can bring all those blitzes.

"But when you spread it out, and they blitz, there is a bunch of seams there," he added.

Armagost had 203 of his 316 passing yards in the first quarter. When Redbank (3-1) switched out of that defense, the Warriors were able to run the ball with Geagan.

The freshman, who has struggled the last two weeks, found ample running room again. He rumbled for 106 yards on eight carries.

His 48-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter gave Moniteau a 27-19 lead.

"He's our guy," Campbell said. "We could have gone away from him because he was struggling, but we didn't. We stuck with him and God bless him tonight."

Armagost wasn't left out of the running game, either.

He scored on a 5-yard run at the end of the first half to give Moniteau a 33-19 halftime lead.

Armagost scored on runs of 2 and 11 in the second half to keep the feisty Bulldogs at arm's length.

The Warriors never really enjoyed much breathing room because of Redbank quarterback Brandon Bain and wide receiver Keaton Delp.

Bain threw for 199 yards and touchdown passes of 74 and 55 yard to Delp, who also returned a kickoff for a score.

But Moniteau's offense was too much for the Bulldogs.

The Warriors rarely ran the ball in practice all week. Instead, they focused on the passing game.

"In practice, the coaches pushed us and pushed us and pushed us," Pry said. "We really buckled down and we pulled through."
