'Yes' vote not scary
A "yes" vote for the Slippery Rock study question on Nov. 2 will not change anything — not your taxes, not your government. Voting yes to do the study does not mean that you have voted for a merger or consolidation of the borough and township.
Simply put, a yes vote will allow the study to be done by a seven-member, elected commission of your neighbors.
The commission might study the financials, growth and development and services of both the borough and township. A recommendation from the commission might include, but not be limited to, a merger/consolidation or a suggestion to do nothing.
Voters would decide on any recommendation. In doing the study, both communities will obtain valuable information that could be used for current and future needs of this community.
There is nothing to fear — no secret takeover plan nonsense, no lies, half-baked truths or deliberately biased misinformation to scare you. You will just get factual information so that you can make wise decisions going forward about this community.
It really is that simple.
