Butler County Community College opened its women's volleyball season Saturday by winning its own Early Bird Kick-Off Tournament.
The Pioneers won all four of their round-robin matches, defeating Allegany (Md.) College, Harrisburg Area Community College, Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College and Westmoreland County Community College.
Jamestown's only loss came against BC3 as the Pioneers posted a 17-25, 25-14, 15-11 triumph in the deciding match.
Seneca Valley graduate and BC3 setter Sarah Beals was named tournament MVP. Pioneers freshman libero Danielle Lloyd also made the all-tournament team.
The squad followed with victories over Penn Highlands 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-8) and Mercyhurst North East 2-0.
Against Penn Highlands, Ashley Campbell had five kills, Beals five kills and four aces, Lloyd 11 digs and four aces, and Hillary Pendel six digs.
Against Mercyhurst North East, Rachel Doutt had six kills, Lloyd 15 digs and three aces, and Beals added 12 assists.
Butler (5-0, 1-0) plays Wednesday at Westmoreland County.
