Mars board hires pair

ADAMS TWP — The Mars School Board has replaced the outgoing assistant superintendent with two people.

The board at a special meeting Tuesday morning hired Joseph W. Pasquerilla and Matthew B. Friedman as assistant superintendents of instruction and technology. They replace Sharon Kamicker, who retired at the end of the 2009-10 school year.

Pasquerilla has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Pittsburgh.

He has been the assistant to the superintendent and the director of curriculum at the Ambridge School District.

Friedman has a superintendent's certification from Edinboro University.

Friedman comes to Mars from the Keystone Oaks School District, where he was supervisor of curriculum/instruction and staff development.

Salaries for each of the administrators will be $85,000 per year.
