Berretta M. 'Netta' Oesterling

Berretta M. "Netta" Oesterling, 92, of Cabot died at 3:55 p.m. Thursday in the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born Sept. 9, 1917, in Herman, she was the daughter of the late Eugene N. Geibel and Annie Reott.

Mrs. Oesterling was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Home Builders Sunday school class.

She loved taking care of her home, beautifying it inside and out. Mrs. Oesterling loved her flowers, watching the birds, putting jigsaw puzzles together, reading, and listening to Al Jolson sing.

She worked at the Spaide Shirt Co. before she was married.

Mrs. Oesterling was a devoted wife and mother and took pride in her family. She was the faithful housekeeper for the Elmer C. Bennitt family, from where she retired after working there for many years.

Mrs. Oesterling is survived by one son, Clifford Oesterling Jr. and his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Sara Cain Stirling of Butler, Eleanor J. Rodgers of Fenelton and Jeanne and her husband, Dale, Thorington, of Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Luella Armahizer of Butler, Lucille and her husband, Donald Riebold, of California and Arlene Cubbage of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Oesterling was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Oesterling Sr., who she married April 10, 1937, and who passed away Sept. 23, 1972, one grandchild; two brothers, Alfred H. Geibel and Morgan Geibel; and three sisters, Anna May Liebler, Rita Osche, and Rose Mary Smith.

<B>OESTERLING</B> — Friends of Bernetta M. "Netta" Oesterling, who died Thursday, July 15, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman, of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
