Thelma M. Stragand Sobeck, 82, of Butler died after a short illness Saturday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born July 23, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Frances (Ward) Daley.

Thelma was a graduate of Oliver High School in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

She worked in the food service department at North Hills Passavant Hospital for more than 15 years until her retirement.

Thelma was married twice. Her husband, Paul F. Sobeck, who she married Feb. 4, 1983, preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1990. Her first husband, Donald R. Stragand, also is deceased.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Surviving are four daughters, Iris A. Sliwinski of Pittsburgh, Donna M. Tack and her husband, William Tack, of Hilliards, Janet F. Painter of Butler and Lisa M. Sterrett and her husband, Paul Sterrett, of Butler; two sons and theirs wives, Jeffrey A. and Rosemarie Stragand of Mars and Michael R. and Janet Stragand of Wexford; a stepdaughter, Lori Sobeck and her husband, John, of Saxonburg; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

<B>SOBECK </B>— Friends of Thelma M. Stragand Sobeck, who died Saturday, July 10, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. in Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler with Father James Dolan, pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow, and inurnment will take place at the North Side Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh.The Women's Council of St. Peter's will meet at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
