Halladay, rookie help Philly rip through Diamondbacks
PHILADELPHIA — Roy Halladay threw a six-hitter and top prospect Domonic Brown had two hits and two RBI in his major league debut to lead Philadelphia to a 7-1 victory over Arizona Wednesday night.
Jayson Werth went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and Carlos Ruiz went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Phillies, who have won seven straight overall and 10 in a row at home.
Miguel Montero went 2 for 3, including an RBI double in the ninth for Arizona, which has lost six straight.
Brown, a 20th-round pick in the 2006 draft, was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley before the game after outfielder Shane Victorino went on the 15-day disabled list with an abdominal strain on his left side.
Halladay (12-8) upped his scoreless innings streak at home to 33 before Montero's ninth-inning hit. It was his eighth complete game.
