Vivian L. Schriner, 92, formerly of West Christie Avenue, Butler, died Saturday evening at the Elmcroft Home in Saxonburg.

Born July 4, 1918, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Lang) Miles.

She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the 55 Alive Club, the Women's Council, the Rosary Society and was a eucharistic minister, all at St. Peter's.

Vivian was the first female vocalist for the Sammy Kay Orchestra in 1938. She was a former tap dancing teacher, having her own dancing school and later joined the Harry Kayser School of Dance, where she taught for 15 years.

She was past president of the Women's Elks Auxiliary, was a floral designer for Pepper's Flowers in Butler, was an avid golfer with the Butler Armco Country Club Women's Club and was part owner along with her husband and family of the Schriner Hotel on South McKean Street in Butler, from 1948 until the early 1960s.

Surviving are her daughter, Maxine Gurner and her husband, Michael, of Butler; a grandson, Steven P. Morgan and his wife, Suzanne, of Amelia Island, Fla.; two stepgranddaughters, Nanette Rau with her husband, Brian, and Nena Cuffin with her husband, Daniel, all of Butler; five step-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Bud" Schriner, whom she married Aug. 3, 1939. He died Aug. 9, 1988.

<B>Schriner</B> —<B> </B>Friends of Vivian L. Schriner, who died Saturday, July 24, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. Jack Nanz will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Parish Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
