BUTLER TWP — Linda Dodd, director of human resources at Butler County Community College, has been awarded the 2010 Member of the Year Award by the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources.

The CUPA-HR Member of the Year Award salutes services to the organization at the chapter, regional and/or national levels and is awarded to someone who represents and supports the CUPA-HR mission.

Dodd currently serves as the treasurer of the Eastern Region CUPA-HR board of directors. In 2009, she served as chairwoman of the Eastern Region Board at their conference in Rhode Island.

Dodd began her career at BC3 in July 1986. In 2001, she assumed her current position of director of human resources for the college.

PITTSBURGH — Thomas Nist of Cranberry Township has been named Duquesne University's director of graduate programs for the Donahue Graduate School of Business.He serves as chairman of investment management for the university, and has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial banking industry, serving as senior vice president and small business segment manager in PNC Bank's Business Banking Division, among other positions.Nist, associated with the Duquesne business school for more than 15 years as an adjunct faculty member and professor, has launched an investment fund with student-portfolio managers at Duquesne. He also advises the student Finance Investment Management Association (FIMA), coordinates the finance and investment advisory boards, and manages outreach and visibility with the corporate and professional investment community.Nist earned a master's of business administration degree with a concentration in finance and marketing from Arizona State University and a bachelor's in business administration from Duquesne University.

SHARON — Thomas Lavorini of Butler is no longer serving as manager of the Mercer County city.Lavorini, who was hired as manager in November, decided he did not want to move to Sharon as required in the job description.His previous job was manager of Ross Township in Allegheny County.
