Bicyclist charged in mishap
SANDY LAKE TWP, Mercer County — An 18-year-old Jamestown, Pa., bicyclist was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle along Route 62 and received a citation in addition to minor injuries.
Joseph W. Cole was riding a 20-inch boy's bicycle with no lights or reflectors at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when an unknown vehicle struck him from behind, throwing him from the bicycle before fleeing the scene, according to state police.
Cole returned to his bicycle and rode between two and three more miles before calling police, who cited him for driving a bicycle at night without lights.
Cole was taken to Greenville Regional Hospital for his injuries, where he was treated and released.
