ToonSeum celebrates dog days of summer
PITTSBURGH — The dog days of summer officially arrive Saturday when the ToonSeum unveils its latest exhibit called "Cartoon Canines," starring some of man's best cartoon friends.
"The Dog Days of Summer: Cartoon Canines" features more than 50 pieces of original comic strip, animation and cartoon art. This family-friendly exhibit spans 100 years of the history of illustration.
"Cartoon Canines" is highlighted by original artwork from Charles M. Schulz, an early comic strip from Tad Dorgan (circa 1913), turn-of-the-last-century strips from England and France and Disney production sketches.
Snoopy, Scooby Doo, Huckleberry Hound, Grimmy, Pluto, Underdog, Ruff, Farley, Goofy, and Auggie Doggie are all off the leash along with many more.
To go along with this exhibit, the ToonSeum has also scheduled several events, including screenings, character meet-and-greets and doggie adoption drives.
The exhibition continues through Sept. 19.Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; closed Mondays and Tuesdays.Admission is $4 for visitors age 13 and older; children 12 and younger are admitted free (up to two children per paying adult).
