James H. Hutchison

Hutchison

James H. "Jim" Hutchison, 68, of Kittanning, formerly of South Buffalo Township, passed away Friday at St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a courageous battle with cancer and with his daughter, Betsy, at his side.

He was born in Butler, Aug. 13, 1941, and was raised by his loving grandparents, Herbert Morrow and Violet (Black) Morrow.

Jim earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Clarion University, where he majored in education and was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity.

An educator, his love of history was passed along to the generations of children he taught spanning his 35-year career with the South Butler School District.

Jim married Susann (Kunselman) in 1963, and this summer would have marked 47 beautiful years together.

He was a man of the outdoors, where he enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed their summer trips camping in Ontario, Canada, at Constan Lake.

After retirement, Jim and Susann traveled extensively and visited many historical sites in the United States. Jim's greatest pleasure was his family, and he enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. Jim was a devoted and loving husband and caring father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he has touched.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Susann (Kunselman) Hutchison; his son, James Eric Hutchison of Kittanning; and his two daughters, Tracy Derouin and her husband, Chris, of Valencia and Betsy Ann Tucker and her husband, Jerry, of Bolivar, Ohio. His four grandchildren also survive, Michael James Derouin, Matthew Christopher Derouin, Elizabeth Susann Hutchison and Violet Ann Hutchison.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
