HARRISBURG — Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Corbett emerged from last month's primary with three times as much money in the bank as his Democratic foe, Dan Onorato, according to reports filed Thursday.

Onorato, who won a four-way nomination battle last month, raised $1.6 million during the month surrounding the May 18 primary, two-thirds of it after the election.

The Allegheny County chief executive spent $1.7 million during that period, pushing his total campaign expenditures this year to more than $8.7 million. His campaign finished the reporting period June 7 with a $1.1 million balance.

Corbett, the state attorney general, had $3.4 million on hand. During the latest reporting period, he raised $1.4 million and spent $1.8 million — nudging his 2010 campaign expenditures to $3.9 million.

Onorato won the Democratic nod with 45 percent of the vote, defeating state Auditor General Jack Wagner, state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams of Philadelphia and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel.

Corbett received 69 percent of the vote to win the GOP nomination, beating state Rep. Sam Rohrer of Berks County.
