MARS — Mars Library, 107 Grand Ave., will launch its summer reading program, "Make a Splash." Programs are available for all ages. New this summer will be online registration and book tracking beginning June 7.There will be incentives for every five books read and weekly prize drawings. SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock American Legion Auxiliary Unit 393 volunteers will distribute handcrafted poppies from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 28 and 29 outside Giant Eagle, True Value Hardware and the Camelot Restaurant, all in Slippery Rock.Contributions received are used to aid the needy veterans and their families in the community, veteran's hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

CRANBERRY TWP —Plains Presbyterian Church, 326 Plains Church Road, will hold its annual Strawberry Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 5 in the fellowship hall. The menu includes hot dogs, sloppy Joes, baked beans, coleslaw, potato chips, strawberries and ice cream and assorted desserts.
