Venturing Crew 50 was recognized Thursday as a winner in the 2009 Youth Awards Contest of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors at the annual convention of the Butler County Association of Township Officials at the Butler Country Club.The members of Venturing Crew 50, a youth program at the Succop Conservancy, raised funds to purchase a circa-1940 tractor suffering from neglect.———

Butler County Community College hosted the March for Babies May 1 to benefit the March of Dimes.More than $57,000 was raised to help babies be born healthy, surpassing the event goal by more than $7,000.Special guests at the day's events included March for Babies Co-Chairs

Carlantonio Family, the 2010 Butler County Ambassador Family.Funds raised by March for Babies help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, neonatal intensive care unit, family support programs and advocacy efforts for stronger, healthier babies.———

<B>Sara O'Donnell</B> of Butler was named Alumni Nurse of the Year at the Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses' annual banquet held at the Grand Ballroom at Cornerstone Commons. She is a graduate of Butler High School and a 1951 graduate of Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.O'Donnell worked for Butler Memorial Hospital and Chicora Medical Center. She has served the alumni on the flower and card, yearbook and program committees. She also has served as secretary and treasurer.The Nurses Alumni also installed new officers, including copresidents <B>Beverly Jack</B> and<B> Jane Titley</B>, Vice President <B>Linda Cunningham</B>, secretary <B>Dolores Bertuzzi</B> and treasurer <B>Jean Morrow</B>.Scholarships were awarded to children or grandchildren of Butler Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni members. Scholarship recipients include <B>Katherine Chiprean</B>, granddaughter of <B>Betty Uber</B>; <B>Sean Culbertson</B>, grandson of <B>Mary Kay Neely</B>; <B>Rebecca Johnson</B>, granddaughter of <B>Mary Anne Dalmagro</B>; <B>Jeralyn Smith</B>, granddaughter of <B>Betty Jo Smith</B>; <B>Kendell Weiland</B>, granddaughter of <B>Eileen Morrow</B>.———On May 13, the winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club were:First: <B>Lorraine Worsley</B> and <B>Ray Kramer</B>Second: <B>Herman Feldman </B>and <B>Phillipe Westreich</B>
