David Edward Bloom
David Edward Bloom, 60, of Slippery Rock died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday at his home.
Born in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, July 15, 1949, he was the son of Raymond DeVere Bloom and Doris Jane McQuown.
He was married to Donna Jean Adamczyk on Sept. 5, 1970.
He retired in 2006 as a mechanical engineer for Scobell Inc. in Erie. Before that, he worked for Renick Brothers in Slippery Rock for almost 30 years.
He attended Punxsutawney High School and Penn State University.
He formerly served on the board of directors of the Slippery Rock Municipal Authority and was a member and past president of the Slippery Rock Lions Club.
He was a Methodist and a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking his dogs, DeeDee and Buffy, for coffee.
Surviving are his wife, Donna J. Bloom of Slippery Rock; a daughter, Dr. Jennifer R. Fennema-Bloom and her husband, Michiel C. Fennema of Findlay, Ohio; a son, David Zachary "Zack" Bloom and his wife, Kate Higgins-Bloom, of Boston; a granddaughter, Emily Katherine Fennema of Findlay; a brother, Thomas George "Tim" Bloom and his wife, Dorothy, of Punxsutawney; a sister, Susie and her husband, Steve, Roseman of Punxsutawney; and a brother, Robert R. Bloom and his wife, Judy Bloom, of Punxsutawney. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
<B>BLOOM </B>— There will be no public services or memorials for David Edward Bloom, who died Sunday, March 28, 2010. Arrangements are under the direction of the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, Slippery Rock.Memorial contributions may be given to a hospice or humane society of the donor's choice.
