ATLANTA — Butler eighth-grader Carissa Chilcott placed second in the Future Novice Horsemanship team class at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Finals last weekend.

The performance gave the Butler Middle School western team five points in the competition.

Butler has participated in the IEA National Finals two years in a row.

NEW ORLEANS — The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team has climbed to No. 14 in the NCAA Division II national rankings, its highest of the season.The Rock is the highest ranked PSAC team. Shippensburg is ranked No. 15.SRU will compete in the Lock Haven Invitational this Saturday.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University tennis courts will host an opening round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships May 6 to 8.Shaw (N.C.) faces Indiana (Pa.) at 3 p.m. May 6 in a play-in match, the winner facing SRU (19-5) at 3 p.m. May 7. Bloomsburg plays West Virginia Wesleyan at noon May 7.The May 7 winners face each other at noon May 8 for the right to join the Round of 16 May 12 to 15 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.In case of inclement weather, Oxford North Racquet Club in Wexford will host the matches.The Rock is hosting an NCAA women's tennis competition for the first time since 2003.
