William Howard Bridenbaugh II
William Howard Bridenbaugh II, 62, of Biscuit Hill, San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Butler, died at 8:13 a.m. Sunday at the Vitas Hospice in San Antonio.
Mr. Bridenbaugh was born May 11, 1947, in Butler. He was the son of Ethel M. Bridenbaugh of Maryland and the late William H. Bridenbaugh.
Bill attended the Butler Area Schools and graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1968 with a degree in electrical and electronic engineering. He subsequently graduated in 1976 from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.
Bill spent 30 years with Western Electric, SBC and AT&T. He was a troubleshooting expert for both hardware and software central office challenges and traveled extensively throughout the United States. He also headed an SBC lab in Austin, Texas. He retired in 2000 at age 53.
Retirement brought a new phase of life with travels with his wife, Margaret, to Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret, of San Antonio, Texas; his 97-year-old mother, Ethel M. Bridenbaugh and a sister, Becky Bridenbaugh Stevens, both of Maryland; and a son, William H. Bridenbaugh III, a software developer in St. Louis, Mo.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dr. Charles Sumner Bridenbaugh, a longtime Emlenton physician.
