Donald F. McDeavitt
Donald "Red" Francis McDeavitt, 64, of Slippery Rock, West Liberty, died Sunday evening at the Beaver County Medical Center.
Born in West Liberty, July 28, 1945, he was the son of Daniel Ford McDeavitt and Audrey Elizabeth "Betty" Dickson McDeavitt.
He was married to Marilyn Jane Reddick on Dec. 23, 1966.
Mr. McDeavitt was a heavy construction carpenter for Local 2274 in Pittsburgh. He retired in 2003.
He graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1965 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads and working in his garage.
He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Valerie A. and her husband, Brian, Overly of Slippery Rock; a son, Daniel C. and his wife, Marlena, McDeavitt of Grove City; a brother, Daniel J. McDeavitt of Slippery Rock; a sister, Betty L. Staley of Slippery Rock; and five grandchildren, Garrett and Hunter Overly and Mallory, Shelby and Amanda McDeavitt.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Manse McDeavitt, Harold Ford McDeavitt and Sheridan Burdell McDeavitt.
<B>MCDEAVITT</B> — Private services for Donald "Red" Francis McDeavitt, who died Sunday, March 21, 2010, will be held Wednesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, Slippery Rock. The Rev. James Lewis, pastor of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the West Liberty Cemetery.
