President nominates Talleri
NEW CUMBERLAND, Cumberland County — Butler native Brig. Gen. Peter J. Talleri of the Marine Corps was nominated by the president for the rank of major general.
Talleri is a 1975 Butler High School graduate and 1979 graduate of Clarion University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in management.
Commissioned in May 1979, Talleri subsequently served all over the world including assignments in Iraq and Japan.
Currently, Talleri is serving as the commander, Defense Distribution Center in New Cumberland. There, he is responsible for a global storage and distribution network holding inventory valued at more than of $98 billion through fixed and deployable infrastructure and expeditionary personnel.
Talleri is a graduate of the Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School and Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He holds a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a Master of Science degree in Business Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Talleri and his wife Debi have three adult children. Talleri's father, retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Peter A. Talleri, as well as his mother, Theresa Shaffer, live in Butler.
