Joseph C. Flickinger
Joseph C. Flickinger, 91, formerly of Tieline Road, Grove City, died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City, where he was a resident for the nine years.
Born in Mercer, Nov. 9, 1918, he was the son of George Flickinger and Jesse Redmond Flickinger.
He married Virginia Louise Flick on July 3, 1954. She died March 15, 2002.
Mr. Flickinger retired from the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad.
He was a member of the First Church of God, Grove City.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
Surviving are a son, G. Douglas Flickinger and his wife, Linda, of Grove City; three grandchildren, Luke Michael and his wife, Abbie, Doug Flickinger and Kelsey Flickinger, all of Grove City; a great-granddaughter, Madison Michael of Grove City; two sisters, Patty Montgomery of Transfer and Peggy Anderson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother, Jack W. Flickinger and his wife, Dorie, of Mercer.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; three sisters, Gladys Zahniser, Mary Belle Wilson and Teddy Rabold; and four brothers, George, Clarence, Earl and Fred Flickinger.
<B>FLICKINGER</B> — Visitation for Joseph C. Flickinger, who died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gene Worline, pastor of the First Church of God, Grove City, officiating.
