ZELIENOPLE — The borough council has appointed councilman Russell Robertson to serve on the Zelienople Municipal Airport Authority board.

He is filling a five-year term that will expire Dec. 31, 2014.

The appointment, which was made on March 8, begins immediately.

Robertson is serving his 14th year on the borough council, has previously served on the airport authority, and is a retired 20-plus year employee of the Federal Aviation Administration headquarters office in Washington, D.C.

The Zelienople airport is owned by the borough and is managed by the airport authority board.

It is in Franklin Township, Beaver County.

BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College recently appointed Maggie McClaine Slater to the new position of assistant director of admissions on the main campus.The college also appointed Joshua Novak to the position of Lawrence Crossing Specialist at BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing in New Castle. Slater previously held this position.She also teaches speech classes part time at the college. Slater's role as assistant director of admissions includes recruitment, college fairs, classroom presentations at local career and technical centers, and consulting with prospective students who visit main campus.Novak's role as Lawrence Crossing Specialist includes advising, student activities and clubs, campus communications, including Facebook and the newsletter, and evening and Saturday building coverage and administration.

HARRISBURG — The Redbank Valley Municipal Authority in Clarion and Armstrong counties will get state money to upgrade sewer lines in New Bethlehem and in South Bethlehem.Those sewer lines have unpermitted overflows. Those communities are in each of those counties.Redbank was approved for a $3.187 million grant and a $1.142 million loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, Penn-Vest.The total $9.575 million project will reduce malfunctions along Route 66 and the Cottage Hill area.The project also includes installation of more than 41,000 feet of sewer lines, replacement of two pump stations and the construction of a 1.9 million gallon wastewater tank.The funding was announced by state Sens. Mary Jo White, R-21st, and Don White, R-41st.
