William Kinzler Jr.
William "Tom" Kinzler Jr., 77, of Warrendale died unexpectedly Monday at UPMC Passavant hospital surrounded by his family.
Born June 22, 1932, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Alice Lee (Abel) Kinzler.
Mr. Kinzler was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, serving with the 11th Airborne Division.
He retired in 1995 from Steamfitters Local 449. He was a member and past commander of the Mars VFW Post 7505.
Mr. Kinzler was an avid gardener, who tended many gardens on his homestead and especially loved planting pine trees.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan R. (Aul) Kinzler; eight children, JoAnn Havach (Joseph Bakos Jr.) of Fairfax, Va., Sandra J. Bradley (Mickey) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Linda L. Schantz (David) of Sewickley, William T. Kinzler III (Ann) of Marshall Township, Carol A. Fodi (David) of Bellevue, Marlene A. Kinzler of Wilkinsburg, Robert E. Kinzler (Judy) of Leesburg, Va., and R. Kurt Kinzler of Warrendale; two brothers, David P. Kinzler (Linda) of Bremerton, Wash., and Joseph E. Kinzler (Genevieve) of Baden; and a sister, Mary Alice Smidel (Thomas) of Freedom. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
<B>KINZLER</B> — Friends of William "Tom" Kinzler Jr., who died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home</B> of Cranberry Township, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.
