Philip 'Foo' Chiappini
Philip J. "Foo" Chiappini of Hilliards passed away at 9:41 p.m. Friday at his home following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born May 27, 1947, in Grove City. He was the son of the late Roy N. Chiappini and Phyllis Ziccardi Chiappini.
He was a 1965 graduate of Moniteau High School.
He was employed in the hot mill at AK Steel as a rougher. After retiring from AK Steel in 2002 after 35 years, Philip was able to pursue some of his favorite hobbies including golfing, hunting, fly fishing and wood working. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends bonding over delicious food and old stories.
Philip was a member of several organizations ranging from the Valley Dam Sportsmen's Snowmobile Association to the Oakview Golf Club. He was also an honorary member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Stella B. McDonald Chiappini, who he married Jan. 16, 1965; one daughter, Angela Chiappini Shakely and her husband, Tony, and their children, Sophia and Dominic, of Butler; two sons, Philip Anthony Chiappini and his wife, Judy, and their children, Kyra and Lauren, of Cape Coral, Fla., and Michael John Chiappini and his son, Michael Julian "Chip," of Eau Claire; one sister, Peg Chiappini Bailey and her husband, Patrick, of Cincinnati; and four brothers, Roy N. Chiappini Jr. and his wife, Ava, of Blackfoot, Idaho, Steve Chiappini and his wife, Ginny, of Butler, Mark Chiappini and his wife, Pam, of Grove City and Greg Chiappini and his wife, Janet, of Grove City.
<B>CHIAPPINI</B> — Friends of Philip J. "Foo" Chiappini, who died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Mitchell Natali officiating. Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001 or the American Cancer Society.
